“El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.” – American Library Association (ALA)
The Día initiative proposed by author Pat Mora and supported by the American Library Association is now in its 20th year! It is a commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages and cultures.
Learn more about Día on their website here – http://dia.ala.org/. Then follow them on Facebook here for updates!
In celebration of Día, I’m holding a #DiadelosLibros Giveaway with a set of Lil Libros books! These colorful bilingual books are perfect for early literacy fun and cultural awareness. You can read along and describe all the wonderful images to your lil’ one. They’re also sturdy enough to last through the roughest of play.
To enter this giveaway, please comment your favorite book to read to your little one. You can comment on this blog post or on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages. Each comment is one entry. Entries accepted until 11:59 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017. The drawing will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017. Good luck!
