I feel good about our finances now but it wasn’t always this way. I’ve had my car repo’d, lights turned off, and checks bounced. At different times, I’ve been unemployed, worked for commissions, and juggled 2 jobs.
As we are living through the effects of the COVID-19 quarantine and Shelter In Place orders, many of us are learning that we must be better prepared financially. We can no longer ignore building an emergency savings. We can no longer ignore financial literacy and wellness. What does that mean? Where should we start?
When I started to read books and watch shows on money management, I started to learn valuable lessons. The most important point was learning that how I felt about money was truly influenced by my family. Then understanding that my husband has his perspective on money influenced by his family. I would have to bring these two different thoughts together in order to fully understand our money story and how to make changes to improve our future.
How do you feel about money?
What is your first memory about money? Write it down. Sketch it out. That’s how you start to understand your money story.
