Honoring Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month September 15 – October 15 by Decolonizing Our Food

Honoring our Latinx culture through food is a delicious way to get back to our roots!

Decolonize Your Diet written by Luz Calvo and Catriona Rueda Esquibel is a full cookbook with many recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sweet snacks and desserts! It’s so much more than an everyday cookbook because their intent is to “seek to honor and reclaim the healthy aspects of our complex histories and multiple cultures.” I really appreciated learning historical context behind the ingredients and dishes shared in this cookbook.

There’s helpful explanations throughout the book to help you understand how and why decolonizing your diet is needed.

Find your way back to your roots by decolonizing your diet

The idea of decolonizing our diet can be challenging at first. Like any change take it one step at a time. I am! I plan to pin some of the recipes I try this season to my Pinterest board.
