Pop-up mercados create space for small businesses in Stockton, California

Mercado Latinx 209 and Mercado Vida are providing space for Latinx small businesses to thrive in the Central Valley. The twist is in the pop-up! The mercados are at different locations and could be once a month or once a quarter. For Mercado Latinx 209, “The market’s mission is to support and provide a space for Latino artists, designers, creators, crafters and chefs to showcase their talents,” reported by Almendra Carpizo of The Record. This atmosphere leverages each other’s networks. If you’ve gone to support your favorite business you’ve likely stayed to see what else there is to buy.

Unique, thoughtful art is all around. The Deported Artist’ work is on display thanks to his family. Through the sales he is able to support himself after deportation to Mexico.

Don’t neglect your sweet tooth! You’ll find delicious food and sweets at pop-up mercados. Postrique brings her famous concha cookies (because isn’t that the best part of the concha away?!) to the Central Valley.
